Temptations (Day 4)

What a day of temptations!

First the boy announced he’d like to go to McDonalds for a burger, then he bought some M&Ms, we went out to a bar, and to top it off the boy decided to grab a slice of his favorite pizza post drinks.

AND I CONQUERED THEM ALL. No, I’m not shouting. I’m just dancing from the rooftops for having that kind of willpower. To be perfectly honest, the only thing that realllllly tempted me was the M&Ms. Huzzah! In the SBD book, the Dr. talks a lot about how the first two weeks will stabilize your insulin levels and cut out cravings, but I honestly thought it was horse sh*t…until I could look a piece of pizza in the face and honestly say I didn’t want it. Hopefully that remains true!

I had a great day yesterday-got some admin stuff done in the morning that I’ve been pushing off (Oh hey benefits card that I’ve never used that has about $1,000 on it—looks like I’ll be using you for the metro now!) and got in a 4 mile run. Epitome of lazy, I know, but the gym downstairs now has full cable to peruse will sweating it out!!

The BF and I also enjoyed a great dinner from the SBD book—Marinated Flank Steak + a side of green beans. Again, the steak was super easy to prepare (are you noticing a theme???) and we have plenty for leftovers tonight.

Marinated Flank Steak (Adapted from the SBD book)

1 1/2 lbs Flank Steak
1 red onion, quartered
1/3 cup Balsamic Vinegar
2 TBS oregano
3 cloves garlic
Salt
Pepper

To assemble:
1. Quarter onion. Sliver 1/4 of the onion and chop the rest. Set slivered portion aside.
2. Combine balsamic, oregano, garlic and remaining onion and mix until blended.
3. Reserve 1/4 cup of the mixture with the slivered onions.
4. Take the flank steak and season with salt and pepper on each side. In a zip-lock bag, pour in marinade. Squish around to season well and put in the fridge for at least an hour.
5. Broil on high 7-8 minutes on each side for a medium steak.

Enjoy!

For the green beans, all I did was take a Trader Joe’s bag of fresh green beans, steam them in the microwave and then I mixed them in a bowl with a tablespoon of margarine and about 1/3 bag of slivered almond toppers.

Here’s what else I ate yesterday:

Breakfast
2 fried eggs (in pam)
2 slices canadian bacon
1 wedge laughing cow cheese
1/2 TBS Peanut Butter

Lunch
6 slices turkey
2 ounces low fat cheddar
4 chunks of romaine lettuce
Roasted Chikpeas
Sugar free jello

Snack
Grande skim latte (full caffeine )

Dinner
4 slices Flank Steak
1 cup green beans
1 fudge pop

Late Night Snack
1/2 TBS peanut butter
10 pistachios
sugar free jello

All in all, a pretty great day- about 1,400 calories plus a 4 mile run. Take that temptations!!
