And finally (holy lots of posts at once!) the split up grocery list this week. I forgot to make a guesstimate for how much groceries would cost this week, but all said and done it was just under $70.00! For two people that’s a pretty awesome week!
What I’m finding out is that I often have quite a few of the things that I need to make recipes now, so instead of having a huge grocery shop every week I’m just supplementing what’s already in the pantry. Hopefully this trend continues and I can whittle down the “get from Giant” list even further. We typically spend almost half as much as we do at Trader Joe’s at Giant for about 1/3 of the items- CRAZY and just goes to show that you can afford to eat healthy with good planning!
Trader Joe’s:
Meat
2 steaks
1 container extra firm tofu
Produce
Scallions
Spinach
Romaine Hearts
Avocado
2 Sweet Potatoes (I ended up getting a bag)
Blood Oranges
Celery
Dairy
Small container milk
Egg Whites
Low Fat Cheese
Laughing Cow Cheese
String Cheese
Cottage Cheese (16 oz)
Greek Yogurt (16 oz)
Giant:
Tin Foil
Chicken Stock (weird, right? TJ’s only had Chicken Broth)
Coffee- splurged here and bought Starbuck’s caramel flavor…mmmmmmm
Without the coffee ($9.99) this would have been super cheap, but I am really looking forward to a caramel latte or two this week :)
