Today I combined two of my favorite things: running (ok fine, jogging) and chocolate.
I’ve become part of a running trio with Kate and Blair and we all do our long runs together on Saturday mornings. The run was a little less than ideal- wind gusts of 25 MPH and snow flurries made for a less than happy Elliott, but we powered through and got it all done!
One of the best things about DC is that you can run along the monuments. It’s pretty inspirational to run by all of these historic landmarks on a weekly basis!
It was our longest run to date for the DC Half that’s coming up (in 3 weeks..eeek!) and it felt good. My legs aren’t that tired either! Next week we’re tackling 10 miles and I hope it feels just as good!
I always reward myself on long run days, and I was craving chocolate like crazy after my run. I mean, I’m always craving chocolate but I try not to eat a ton of it each day. When I was in Trader Joe’s the other weekend I stumbled across this little gem:

That’s right. Low Carb Chocolate aka your best friend in the battle of the bulge. I actually like it better than most dark chocolate because it’s a little more bitter— I guess the equivalent to a 85% + normal dark chocolate bar. Each bar has 4 servings and each serving is only 110 calories. That’s it! I’ve been having my allotted 3 squares each evening and it really hits the spot.
I may or may not have eaten more than three squares today. Totally justifiable though, right????
